Beach Bliss ... now open until 2nd September.

With us all experiencing a typical British summer with the weather swinging between sunshine and showers who says we can’t still play on the beach and build sandcastles? Beat the elements when the fully indoor beach arrives back in Middleton Hall at thecentre:mk from 21st July to 2nd September, with 160 tonnes of sand and a full schedule of activities planned for the whole family to enjoy its beach bliss at thecentre:mk..

This year thecentre:mk will host an exhibition on the  ‘History of Aquatics’ flown in from the   ‘International Swimming Hall of Fame’ in Florida, USA,  the exhibition will delight and enthral with Olympic medals, costumes, and historical memorabilia.  Beach dwellers will be able to enjoy the beach and watch the Olympic Games on a 3.2m x 2.6m screen and alongside the much-loved Crazy Golf, in keeping with Summer’s sporty theme, the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust will visit the beach every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm- 6pm to encourage children to partake in sporting activities.

Mum and Dad can relax in the deck chairs and enjoy refreshments from Costa Coffee’s beach cafe, whilst children can be entertained with games and crafts provided by Milton Keynes Play Association (MK PA).   A full Costa menu will be on sale, with Iced Latte’s, fresh Panini’s and a full range of delicious snacks available throughout the day. Other retailers will also be along the beach front, with seaside themed treasures.

Traditional Punch and Judy shows bring some humour to the sand and entertain the crowds most Wednesdays, or visit the exhibition of local artist Alexandra Leadbeater and her striking aqua themed collection of artwork named ‘Wave’. There will also be a fun competition quiz for children with a special prize for the winner.

Melanie Beck, Head of Marketing and Communication at thecentre:mk, comments “The Beach at thecentre:mk is set to be another fun filled event this year with interactive games for the children, local artist Alexandra Leadbeater and the Olympic Games being shown on our huge screen being just some of our key features. We hope that everyone will enjoy the free activities and families can take advantage of the entertainment organised in our central shopping location. We welcome the local charity MK Dons Sport and Education Trust and look forward to thecentre:mk visitors getting into the sporty spirit of Summer 2012. Don’t forget your bucket and spade!
