The skillscentre:mk is a unique training centre offering dedicated training facilities with a specialised team of trainers delivering courses with recognised qualifications up to NVQ Level 3.  The skillscentre:mk provides training solutions to businesses in and around Milton Keynes, offering training to meet the needs of local employers, employees and the surrounding community.

The skillscentre:mk at thecentre:mk is a founder member of the National Skills Academy for Retail, a Government backed network of training centres designed to increase productivity in the sector. Led by Skillsmart Retail and the Learning and Skills Council, the National Skills Academy has been hailed as a key way to help retailers to develop their staff’s potential, improve their performance and prepare for the economic upturn.

This is especially important in Milton Keynes where over 3000 people are employed at thecentre:mk throughout the 240 stores, cafes and restaurants.

Most courses take place at the dedicated skillscentre:mk facility, though some courses can be delivered on client site.

skillscentre:mk offers FREE, impartial advice. The team of expert trainers are able to understand your requirements and find (or create) the training solution which is perfect for you. Just contact us to book an appointment to discuss your needs and interests.

skillscentre:mk is conveniently located in the heart of Central Milton Keynes in the Food Centre on Avebury Boulevard. Once in the Food Centre, just follow the signs to the skillscentre:mk on the second floor. skillscentre:mk is open Monday – Thursday 9am - 5pm and Friday 9am - 4.30pm.

More about National Skills Academy for Retail

As part of the National Skills Academy network, the skillscentre:mk offers a range of services including the Diploma in Retail Business, pre-employment training, Apprenticeships, retail customer service programmes and retail work experience opportunities.

After four years of planning, with backing from big-name industry partners including the Learning and Skills Council, John Lewis Partnership, Marks & Spencer and the British Council for Shopping Centres, the National Skills Academy for Retail will oversee a network of one-stop, walk-in and web based retail skills shops on high streets and in shopping centres across the UK, all run by local stakeholders including developers, training providers, Jobcentre Plus and retailers.

These skills shops will provide access to world-class skills solutions and help drive a step change in skills levels for the retail industry. Member skills shops will all gain National Skills Academy for retail accreditation and become part of a network providing access to world-class skills and business support for retailers, employees and the future workforce.
