21 September 2009 to 27 September 2009
Times:
Venue:
Central Milton Keynes
Overview:
FringeMK delivers a year round programme of exhibitions, interventions, installations, international residencies commissions as well as a diversity parade; ‘Celebr8’ and in 2009 will launch a selected, national painting prize; 'thecentre:mk Annual Painting prize', a survey of 2D arts practice in contemporary Britain with £8,000 prize money. We produce educational programmes, catalogues and critical text to complement our website and although visual-arts based, support and commission work in all disciplines and actively encourage interdisciplinary collaboration.
The FringeMK concept is the “Change, re-interpretation and experience of physical space and context; maximising this impact by using non-gallery, familiar, public spaces to exhibit art”. Combine this ‘art-jacking’ of busy public space with new and digital media, such as Bluetooth, video-tracking, social networking websites and large-scale projection, and it is possible to capture – quite literally – and engage vast new audiences.” We hope you will come along and enjoy the festival.
